dunno if you’ve ever thought about older midochia (or even just midori and chiaki separately) and how you think they’ll change over time? like the little things, or just how their relationship’s grown overall?? like esp knowing the differences between them in Ryuseitai first years vs now.. and how predictions used to b the graduation system and whatnot ifykwim lol. anyway i love all your pages and the rest of your ryuseitai thoughts so much!! thank you always for sharing 💚❤️ midochia 4eva

i’ve thought about them!! still do!! it’s so much fun!! it took me a moment to get what you mean by graduation system, but that’s referring to how in the ! era days, people assumed the 3rd years will graduate school and leave the unit as well, right? i’m still fond of those stories (like in fanfics) to this day, there’s a unique flavor that shows people’s creativity when we still didn’t know the future of these characters 😭💕 for how the fandom used to headcanon their future in the ! era days, i wrote up a small list here!!
for my own ideas… there’s two types: the one that’s PURELY self-indulgent domestic life together (skips how they confess, start dating etc straight to when they’re just together and in love), and the one that’s more "realistic" and actual headcanons of how they’d be years from now (though it can get self-indulgent too)
for the purely self-indulgent path:
midochia live together and go through domestic shenanigans. OR it’s an idea about how they start working towards living together, like finding apartments and such
i tend to envision chiaki as WAAAY more lax, more purely excitable rather than "putting up a strong front" excitable.
used to imagine midori as the one who cooks more often at home, but now that chiaki has his whole cooking era, i see it more as taking turns. chiaki particularly finds it fun to get the chance to feed midori
midori more openly teases chiaki, tries to get reactions out of him (and it works on chiaki) and smiling whenever he sees chiaki flustered or huffy
i’m obsessed with the idea of midori saying stuff like "shush" "dummy" "silly" instead of "shut up" "are you dumb" etc, like he still finds him loud but he expresses it in a more playful, loving manner. but if he’s genuinely annoyed he will drop that "shut up" 😊
chiaki more selfishly clingy, refusing to stop hugging him because he really is that comfortable and safe enveloped in midori’s warmth and scent, while midori is more casually intimate like subconsciously playing with his hair when they’re watching TV
and any other self-indulgent idea like that. i just love throwing all my "would make me sooo happy if chiaki was like this with midori when they’re alone (or vice versa)" ideas into this path.
i found some random tweets where i talk about self-indulgent domestic midochia, so i’ll drop them here to feed the brainworms:
hehehe domestic midochia cooking for each other, splitting chores between each other 🥰🥰🥰 decorating their home with yuruchara and hero figurines… 🥰🥰🥰🥰 they’re meant to be
chiaki humming to himself while cooking… like wow in a domestic setting midori will always 100% know when he’s in the kitchen. just humming all his favorite tokusatsu songs, excited to cook dinner for them after a long day of work ☺️
housespouse chiaki… humming as he cooks food, talking to himself like "you can’t hide from me!" while cleaning every nook and cranny from dust and dirt, happily greeting midori home with a hug (chiaki’s dream come true)… living his best life
he doesn’t even Have to be a housespouse… chiaki finding it so relaxing and fun to do things for the house whenever he has the free time, and gladly sharing his upcoming plans with midori out of excitement and because he wants to know midori’s thoughts hehe…
he just gets to self-indulge and do as he likes once he’s at home!!! it’s his and midori’s apartment, he can be himself 🥰🥰🥰 meanwhile midori brings veggies and groceries over after visiting his home a bit so that they can cook together hehehe… domestic midochia the world
for the "realistic" path:
i like to think ryuseitai will eventually live together, and i like imagining how they’d work in one house/apartment. who cooks, who buys groceries, how do they split the chores… i especially love the idea of them working together on house chores. super domestic and sweet.
ryuseitai loving, caring and supporting each other 24/7 in their careers and lives 💞 ALL THE WHILE midochia are either pining for each other as always or already in a relationship at this point. either work for me because it’s midochia, they’re Insane no matter what their relationship status is
if midochia hasn’t gotten together yet, then kanata and tetora are completely aware the two love each other Like That. shinobu knows they love and care for each other but hasn’t caught on yet that it’s Like That.
regardless of whether they’ve gotten together or not, shinobu is usually on chiaki’s "side" whenever midochia have some new conflict between each other (sympathizing with him), and tetora is usually on midori’s "side" (supporting him because he gets him). kanata is either neutral or switches between the two sides, but he’s usually on chiaki’s side too because chiaki needs way more help when a misunderstanding happens between those two… ☝
if they’re already together, i feel like chiaki would be even more openly clingy than he is now, more openly honest when he’s emotionally hurt, and even MORE messy /pos. he doesn’t look as "senpai-like" as he used to, being way more self-indulgent and just himself when with midori.
midori in his yumenosaki years has always been struggling with his self-worth and capability to Truly change, and a lot of it relates back to his relationship with chiaki (ex, has he been able to properly repay chiaki through his own actions). so for them to actually be in a relationship, i feel like midori has to have figured out his footing and grasped onto his own way of being happy with chiaki. so by this point, midori’s way more naturally bold with his acts of affection, like casually patting his head when chiaki does well, quietly building him a new shelf for his new set of books, etc
midochia continue to have that wacky silly dynamic we all know and love, just with extra flavors of them actually being lovers now. kanata tetora and shinobu are used to it by now like it’s another part of today’s routine for them.
…and just stuff like that!! i think ES2 has already shown us a lot of their potential in the future. like, i thought it’d take a long while to get to see chiaki being openly honest with ryuseitai, but then stella (ES2 story) came out and revealed NOPE he is fully mask down with ryuseitai now, actual baby of the unit. so… i guess future version would just further go down that path heheh 😊
i feel like i don’t think about headcanons as much anymore because ES2 has given me exactly the future ryuseitai i wanted, but it’s still so yummy… especially to think up ideas that only work when they’ve all graduated
i also 100% still stand by this thought:
learning to sew for ryuseitai, joining the audition for ryuseitai, getting himself possessed by his beloved ryuseitai junior, wanting to gift ryuseitai, starting to think chiaki wants a domestic life with all of ryuseitai in one house, and with midori in the same room as him
there’s a random thread i once wrote in the past on how i imagine ryuseitai in the kitchen together, especially in a future setting.
